Middle East Apple Stores?

Arab Business Machines (ABM), a regional distributor for Apple, is looking to set up the first chain of , which will allow the distributor to diversify its revenue stream and reduce its dependence on sales to corporations and organizations, acording to Gulf News. Both the UAE and Lebanon are being mentioned as possible launch markets, however, the final decision has not been reached, but the present plans call for a co-sponsored plan in collaboration with the ABM's reseller partners.

    Great!

so now, future terrorists will be able to capture, edit (in the Islamic version of Final Cut Pro) and publish QuickTime™ video of future American beheadings. Allahu Akbar!

    Let 'em have PCs instead

These bad guy terrorists should only be allowed access to buying Intel PCs and only when Longhorn ships.

    Re: Great

Hey, anyone notice the lousy pictures that come out of the middle east. From terrorist messages from osama to mistreatment of Iraqi's in prison, they're all grainy, hard to see (h***, the audio is worse, you can barely hear these people). Maybe with some iLife goodness, we can get some sharp pictures, cut the cigarette from the woman's mouth (bad example for the kids, you know - pointing at genetalia is one thing, but smoking at the same time! That's just too much!), good quality audio so there's no question who's saying what (truthfully, the FBI could use this as well, their secret recordings of mafiosos leave much to be desired), etc, etc, etc.

    weak humor

While some of the jokes are inevitable, and some of it can be forgiven during these times, it really is of weak character and intellectually lazy to equate terrorism with the Middle East. It would be the same as equating handgun violence with Americans: Yeah, allot of it happens here, but you wouldn't want all of Japan to assume we here in the US are all rabid handgun murderers.

Think about it. The modernization of the Middle East, including Apple opening a branch there is a positive step towards a normalization between peoples.

    re: weak humor

I wholly agree. One of my best friends is from Saudi. He has said that one of the biggest problems with the general public in the Middle-East is that they're not educated. Small steps like this help pave the way for a more civilized culture.

Also, being friends with him, I have met countless others from the Middle-East. They are all the nicest, most welcoming people I've ever met. Please don't generalize Middle-Easterners as Arabs.

    (long day...)

The last sentence in my last post should have said "Please don't generalize Middle-Easterners as terrorists."
