Fry's in Sunnyvale, CA had then like 2 days after they were announced, and already selling them out
Computertown in Salem and Nashua NH had them this past weekend, but they were selling quick.... Don't know about the Boston store, but I suspect they have them as well.
I placed an order for a 533 G4 with an added video card on 1/11/01 through the Apple Store online. The availability at that time was 5 days. I called on 1/18 and 1/21 since I got no confirmation that it shipped. I was told I should have it by 1/26. My order was cancelled, then re-entered at some point, and the Apple Store rep on the phone had no info why that happened.
I ordered mine from MacZone on 1/15/01. They said they would have them in stock on 1/19/01 and would ship then. But I got and email confirmation on 1/16/01 saying that my new G4 had shipped! Yeah! It should be arriving on my doorstep today or tomorrow!
I noticed 533 and 466 G4's on display and in stock at the Anaheim Fry's the Friday after the keynote.
again(!) apple has screwed up! i ordered a pbg4 the day of the expo and have now been told by the apple store that the order has been delayed an additonal 3 weeks!
Yes, the new machines can create CD-A's, and have more PCI capability, but they (still) don't have digital audio I/O. S/P DIF I/O would have made this new machines more of a hub for the 'digital lifestyle'. Yes, USB S/PDIF I/O devices are available, but built-in would be good for future models.
I ordered the dual 533 G4 on the 12th and was given a 21 day time lag. I've heard almost no talk of this model in the Mac news. The single 466 and 533 processors seem to be shipping very fast now, while reports of the 667 (are they dodging "the number that must not be named" or is there a technical reason it's 667 and not 666?) and 733 processors on the newer G4 chips are reporting even bigger delays, but not a word from anyonce concering the dual 533.
Anybody heard any news about ship dates or any authenticated sitings of the new dual G4's?
ummm what do you mean??????they don`t even come with
audio in/out????what mp3?????that lame codec???
digtal audio is non detailed enough without further diluting it
through mp3 compression...i thought by the heading that this was a new update like they were gonna come with a good card or at least mac i/o??...

New G4 in Chicago
I was in Microcenter in Chicago today and they have them in too, didn't ask how there stock was though. They were on display with the old ones. If you didn't keep up with Apple you would think that they had a very complicatied product line. The place was messy too, and no one bothered to ask if I needed any help. (Just in case anyone's looking, they have the last model of hte 15inch LCD for 699.)
