Virtual Wings 1.5 earns FAA approval

updated 11:06 am EDT, Fri May 5, 2000

CAT III Systems has released Virtual Wings 1.5, a free upgrade to the high-end flight trainer for Windows and Macintosh. The new version's VFR/IFR simulator has been approved as a Personal Computer Based Aviation Training Device by the Federal Aviation Administration. PCATD systems can be used by pilots for logging 10 hours of training toward the instrument rating when under the tutelage of an instrument flight instructor. The software simulates a Cessna 172 Skyhawk for basic training and an Aerospatiale TB20 Trinidad constant speed prop retractable as a complex aircraft. New users can purchase the package for $250.
