Apple unveils Final Cut Pro HD 4.5

Final Cut Pro HD
Apple today unveiled , the latest version of Apple’s Emmy award-winning editing software, now with the real-time performance of high-quality native DVCPRO HD in addition to real-time support for DV and SD. Final Cut Pro HD delivers the ability to capture, edit and output broadcast-quality high definition (HD) video over a single FireWire cable, without requiring any additional hardware—an industry first. Final Cut Pro HD supports native DVCPRO HD editing with no recompression or image degradation and enables HD preview monitoring on an Apple Cinema HD Display.
The Final Cut Pro HD 4.5 upgrade, available via the Mac OS X software update, offers the following new features:
- DVCPRO HD editing with RT Extreme support
- 720p high definition video support
- New Digital Cinema Desktop external video monitoring options
- 24 @ 25 PAL editing support
- Trim Edit window audio monitoring enhancements
Final Cut Pro HD also includes improvements in the following areas:
- Importing files from a bin in the Browser via shortcut menu
- Autosaving after Log and Capture
- Copying and pasting with Auto select controls in the Timeline
- Preparing video for display
- Render files in Timeline
- Dynamic trimming
- Ripple delete
- Audio-only timecode overlays display properly
- Pasting clip attributes with filters
- JKL-key playback when using an external monitor
- 4-8 pixel vertical striping in video
- OpenGL and AltiVec processing enhancements
- Compatibility with certain third-party After Effects plug-ins
- Proper detection of 4 or more gigabytes of RAM
- Edit to Tape and Print to Video honors multiple audio channels when mixed
- Color bars for 23.98 fps projects

Just wants to mix things up so Apple isn't predictable... We can't always have new product Tuesdays.
My bet is we will see a speed bump before WWDC, Steve likes his sunrises, a speed bump isn't going to be good enough.

Apple just f'ing OWNS this space. The few non-Apple systems you might see this time next year will be like those folks who owned horse-drawn buggies for YEARS after automobiles started appearing. It's that level of analogy.

NAB started today that is why they announced it. Apple has one of the biggest booths this year and is certainly one of the major talk of the show as they have been the last few years

I believe the last version upgrade was released on a Sunday as well. I'm glad I waited to upgrade!!
