iPod earbud warning

The Times warns iPod users against using the bundled headphones when using the MP3 player in public places: "The distinctive 'earbud' white that a highly desirable iPod, costing up to £400, is concealed about the street-walking music lover, according one reader: "Todays UK "The Times" (UK's 2nd major broadsheet) newspaper carries a front page article and photograph detailing the rise in attacks on iPod owners by muggers and reports police advise owners to avoid using the tell-tale white iPod earphones." Here's another reason...

Here's another reason not to use the bundled headphones... Because they're not very good.

    They are warning people?

They are warning people not to use them because they might get mugged?? What in holy h*** is going on with the world? How about we warn the police to do their job better or lose it. If it means hiring more officers...fine. Just don't tell us to fear living. Sheeeesh.

    Dell DJ

I was nearly mugged for my Dell DJ. Upon realizing his error, the criminal decided against taking it. I begged and pleaded, but he just wouldn't take it. Ah well, such is life.

    Easy solution

Put a few plainclothes cops with iPod headphones on the streets in places where these muggings have occurred.

    I was going...

I was going to make a crack about how a bunch of MacNN geeks are going to b**** about how this has already been reported, but alas! the geeks are quicker than I.

    Muggings happen all over

I was in London last week, and the iPod users sure do stick out from the crowd in the street and the tube.

If I were to be a user, I'd surely leave the "mug me" ear phones at home and use something a little more discrete.

Having said that, London is a very safe place. Even safer now that MI5 have discovered the whereabouts of half a tonne of amonium nitrate destined for a Bali/Oklahoma type bomb.

    nah, here's the solution

the iPod blokes should just carry a gun and shoot anybody suspicious who approaches them. =P
