RenderMan for Mac OS X

Pixar today released for Mac OS X 10.3 Panther. The release supports both the G4 and G5 processors as well as provides a number of important fixes and enhancements for all supported platforms, including Windows 2000/XP, 32 and 64 bit Linux, and Irix 6.5. The high quality renderer features a powerful shading language and anti-aliased motion blur that allow designers to integrate synthetic effects with live-action footage. It has been used in many feature films, including Pixar's own productions such as "Finding Nemo."

    This rocks!

This is great! Just got my copy an hour ago, installed it on my G5 XServe array, and it just rendered my two hour epic in record time! This is great!!!

    RenderGollum

I do recall seeing both Render Man and Shake listed in the credits at the end of " The Lord of the Rings : Return of the King". Good enough for me....

    Welcome Back, Renderman

I'm sure most of you don't know this but when NeXT's OS was NEXTSTEP (not OPENSTEP), it included Renderman (from 1989 or so until the mid-90's). So welcome back to the platform, Renderman!

    Artist Tools

Renderman Artist Tools is NOT available for Mac and without that, there is no front end to Maya. Maya and Renderman will not integrate seemlessly without these apps...this is just a bunch of smoke....the real deal will be when Renderman Artist Tools are released for OSX.
