Apple Store estimated ship dates increased
updated 08:00 am EST, Fri January 19, 2001
The Apple Store has modified the estimated ship dates for the PowerBook G4 and high-end Power Mac G4 systems. The estimated ship date for PowerBook G4 orders placed today has been increased from 21 days to 45 days. Similarly, 667 MHz and 733 MHz Power Mac G4s are now estimated to ship in 7-10 weeks, up from 6-8 weeks. 466 MHz and 533 MHz Power Mac G4s are available immediately, however. It's unknown whether the extended delays are a result of overwhelming demand or a worsened parts shortage. Apple was unavailable for comment. Several readers report that calls to the Apple Store revealed that their PowerBook G4 orders placed as early as ten days ago are also showing the added delay and are not expected to ship until the end of February.
