Apple Bluetooth 1.5 supports headsets, printers

Apple today released Bluetooth 1.5 for Mac OS X, which provides support for Bluetooth enabled headsets and printers: "Headsets must support the Bluetooth headset profile and printers must support the Bluetooth HCRP profile. In order to configure and use a Bluetooth headset, the Bluetooth module must have the latest Bluetooth firmware from the Bluetooth Firmware Updater application version 1.0.2 or later." It is available via the Mac OS X Software Update Control Panel.

We have been waiting for this. Now, ...can you:

Use a bluetooth headset for iChat, IPphone, iListen, or any audio unit application?

What about telephony?

Can it switch interchangably with a Bluetooth enabled cell phone?

Can you simultaniously connect the headset to both cell phone and Mac OS X for recording?

????

I am currently using my Jabra FreeSpeak with my PBG4 17". I works with any audio source as far as I can tell. You have to pair it in the Bluetooth Preference Pane and then select the headset in the sound Preference Pane. You will have to select it for both input and output if you want to use both. I have used it with iChat and it works GREAT!

It cannot be used at the same time as it is paired with a phone. The headset can only be paired to one device as far as I can tell. When it is paired and connected to the PB it disconnects from the phone. Great Update overall!

I ran the firmware updater on my PowerBook 12", as well as the 1.5 update. I can pair my Jabra BT200 successfully, but it says not connected. I go into the sound preferences and it's not there.

Before, if you tried to send a file to a device, an dthe file existed already in that location, watch as teh application crashes(of cours eOSX stays alive so just relaunch the application) and now its fixed! Now it checks to see that the target directory conntains your file. RIght one apple. RIGHT ON. as winhoes users battle daily crap viruses and buggy junk from M$, you mac users really do get a treat out of your flawless computers. and my g4 too :)

Cool. What's the sound quality like? Does it depend entirely on the headset, or is there a Bluetooth-imposed limitation? I get the feeling most or all of those headsets are designed with telephony and speech recognition in mind, rather than listening to music (?).

...OK - don't expect too much! Sound quality is like listening via the phone and of course "mono".
