Here we go again...

Isn't it ironic that Apple made the cut for this yet I cannot view these ads with the latest version of RealPlayer. It bombs out with a "required component missing" error. DOH!

RealPlayer error

Hey bonehead, Apple doesn't have anything to do with RealPlayer.

Solution:

Use Quicktime!

I guess it isn't a "REAL" "PLAYER" then eh? Why not just use Quicktime like God had intended?

Hmmm? What's that supposed to mean?? Did you understand the post before?
On that website where you can view the ads, all the ads are encoded in Real. The OSX real player can't play it. And that, indeed, is ironic.

you CAN play the videos

It's a problem with CBS's web authors, not RealPlayer... they are forgetting to close an argument in the tag that includes the video in the window. The work-around:

Step 1) open up the URL in Mozilla Firebird
Step 2) launch a video
Step 3) cancel the "update" message from RealPlayer
Step 4) right (or control) click in the empty space right above where the video should be and choose This Frame/View Source
Step 5) Look in the source for the tag, and copy it's src URL
Step 6) open RealPlayer and choose File/Open location, paste and play!

1. It's ironic that it doesn't play on a Mac.
2. It's ironic that it's not available in QuickTime.

It is however NOT ironic that it doesn't play in RealPlayer on a Mac. Since Apple has nothing to do with Real Player. Probably why the poster above used the term bonehead.

A lot of MACNN posters could really use a class on learning irony and sarcasm.

The video itself is basic Real Media. Nothing Fancy. I've posted links to the actual files as well as the codec information on my site.
