Apple finishes '03 as No. 5 PC vendor with 3.2% share
Echoing sentiments revealed in Apple's Q1 2004 conference call, IDC said that strong growth in Europe and sustained notebook demand were key sources of growth and that on an annual basis, shipment growth moved into double digits for the first time since 2000. Shipments rose to a record 152.6 million on growth of 11.4%. However, Apple was not able to achieve the same type of growth throughout 2003. IDC said, "product refreshes in the fourth quarter helped lift growth to double digits [in the fourth quarter], but missed Apple's key third quarter client base and shipments were down a hair annually."
HP saw a 21% year-over-year increase in the fourth quarter of 2003, allowing it to capture the top PC vendor spot with 16.9% market share in the US. On HP's heels, Dell also achieved record volumes with 20% growth and captured 16.3% market share during the quarter. IBM, Fujitsu and Toshiba rounded out the top 5 PC vendors in the fourth quarter of 2003. The same 5 vendors rounded out the top 5 vendors in worldwide shipments in both Q4 2003 and overall 2003 shipments.

Apple has good products that fill a niche. PC and windows is not for everyone.
Why are so many insecure windows users always bashing Apple? Get a life guys. Go scan a virus.
I drive a Mitsubishi but I don't feel the need to taunt Toyota or Ford drivers.
Today 3.2%! Tomorrow... 3.3%! Victory is mine! Muhahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!
I really wonder who this fool thinks he is? I'll admit that there is usually a pro-Apple theme on this forum, but you would be a fool not to expect it dumbass.
That being said, I'm still holding out for a headless eMac!
Clue to Apple
I can't afford an iMac, I don't like the size/style of the eMac! Not everyone wants to spend $1000 for the lowest end hardware you have to offer!
Everyone wants a $500 - $600 system that they can use with their 3 year old (perfectly working) monitor (or along side their PC)!
Headless eMac
1GHz PowerPC G4
256MB SDRAM
40GB Ultra ATA drive
Combo drive
$599
Too many idiots out there....
