updated 07:30 pm EST, Tue January 16, 2001

More than 93,000 individuals packed the Moscone Center last week for Macworld Expo San Francisco, according to numbers released by IDG World Expo. The figure makes San Francisco 2001 the most popular Macworld Expo ever. Additionally, more than a 250,000 users across the world tuned in via Webcast for Apple CEO Steve Jobs' January 9 keynote.

    Count me in

MWSF 2001 was my first Macworld....and it will not be my last. I was very impressed. I was surprised to hear from a few others that Macworld was better about 2 years ago.

will watch next one in X!

tried to watch it with the public beta, but the version of QuickTime in Mac OX S apparently doesn't yet support streaming QT...had to reboot into OS 9.

From what I've seen, those with QuickTime 5 beta installed had a much easier time seeing the video than those still running 4.x....is this true?

    ho-hum

I didn't think this was a great expo. Aside from the cool new products themselves(especially the TiBook), the booths themselves are getting less interesting. Most vendors just aren't putting on a good show like they use to, even compared to last years. I guess that the internet has kind of taken the place of suprising us.

    The what?

I was there and I was impressed. But whats a TiBook? You mean the New Powerbook G4? Yeah it was great. The keynote didn't impress me though.

Ti - Chemical symbol for Titanium. Obviously you were so bored during the keynote you slept through Steve's introduction of the new PowerBooks.

    Quicktime for OS X...

tried to watch it with the public beta, but the version of QuickTime in Mac OX S apparently doesn't yet support streaming QT...had to reboot into OS 9.

The problem is with the browsers not with Quicktime Player. There is no Quicktime Plugin for the browsers so you must manually enter in the URL to the stream. Check within html source. It should work if you manually enter the location. But by the next keynote there should be a working version.

still not as good as 99

Even though the products were nice I still wasn't as satisfied and impressed as keynote MWSF 1999 when they introduced the new B&W G3s (i dont think I have to go into how AMAZING those things were), Mac OSX server, the colored iMacs, not the mention John Carmack annoucning that he is committed to Mac gaming, and... dammit that was the best. Its gonna take a LOT to match that keynote... trust me. :-)
