Afternoon tech news: Motorola has announced that it will shut down its Harvard, Illinois cellphone manufacturing plant and lay off 2,500 workers; Intel has divulged plans to increase production of its Pentium 4 chip to an expected 20 million in 2001; tech companies are teaming up to fight hackers by sharing information about cyber-attacks and vulnerabilities; and Sun Microsystems plans to throw a coming-out party today for the company's new Java 2 Platform Enterprise Edition (J2EE).
