BOSS shares DSL or cable modem connections to provide Internet access to all computers on a network. The appliance's built-in NAS provides extra storage space on the network for backup, expansion, file-sharing and data management. BOSS offers advanced security features include a Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI) Firewall ensures the same level of security and privacy as larger, corporate networks. BOSS also acts as an FTP server, allowing users to securely and remotely access network files too large to email or store on portable media. The VPN provides telecommuters and mobile workers with a convenient and safe way to stay remotely connected to the network.
"Small and home offices need the same networking capabilities, such as Internet access, remote access, file-sharing and data storage, as large corporations. The problem is, they do not have the resources to pay for expensive high-end systems," said Miranda Su, vice president of sales and marketing at IOGEAR, Inc. "IOGEAR's BOSS gives these small or home offices a secure server appliance with all the functionality of corporate-level systems, at a fraction of the price."
