Digital camera sales are expected to reach $1.9 billion this year, 10% more than film cameras, marking the first year that digital camera sales surpass their traditional counterparts. The study, conducted by InfoTrends, still notes that film cameras vastly outnumber digital cameras by more than nine-to-one, although traditional camera sales are predicted to begin declining in 2005.
