America�s Army, one of the five most popular PC action games played online, provides players with the most authentic military experience available, from exploring the development of Soldiers in individual and collective training to their deployment in simulated missions in the War on Terror. It includes realistic roles, including Weapons Specialist (18B), Intelligence (18F), Engineer (18C), Communications (18E) and Combat Medic (18D) as well as complete training missions drawn from the SFAS process at Fort Bragg, multiplayer missions in simulated combat combat environments, and detailed Special Forces equipment and military hardware.

this game is just some stupid recruiting ploy!

but, i wonder if in the game you get points for killing a lot of innocent bystanders, securing oil and creating a bunch of future terrorists. now that would be realistic!

You guys don't get it

Believe it or not, the Army cannot declare war. If you have political gripes with the current administration you support your candidate and then vote in the next election (be sure to vote Kerry and Leiberman out of office since they voted for the Iraq war). However, bashing the military, who can only follow the lawful orders of the President after he has gained the approval of Congress, is not only senseless but callous.

Good game

AA is a good game. Yes, it's designed as a recruiting tool, but it's still fun none the less. And I have no intent on joining the Army. All of you people berating it probably haven't even tried to. So unless you have, you really have no room to talk. This is much better than a TV commercial because it's interactive.

Exactly. The Army's job is to provide the best military force they can and carry out the decisions of our leaders. I'm amazed at how naive people are to think it's possible to fight a war and not have innocent people killed. If you actually knew anyone in leadership positions in the military, you would understand how difficult decisions that result in innocent causualties are. Their job is to succeed in the mission that's been handed them. And some people in the this world don't have the option of wearing rose-colored glasses where nothing bad will ever happen. Welcome to the real world.

Oh, and by the way, we're not in a war. In fact, America hasn't declared war since World War II. They've been military actions since then, nothing more.

How do you declare war?

There's no form you fill out to declare war in the Constitution or in international law. To say we've not declared war since WWII assumes that there is some prescribed way we do this. There isn't. When we put several thousand people in your country against your will or shoot at yo across borders, we're at war. I don't care if some social studies prof calls it a police action.

BTW, Congress authorized use of force in Korea, Viet Nam, Desert Storm, and Iraqi Freedom. These are, de facto, declarations of war.

p.s. To the comment that someone hates highschoolers posting - the sad truth isn't that a highschooler did post but that such asinine comments are proffered implying the military has the capacity to declare war. Maybe these people should return to highschool. Again, if you have issues with the Bush administration or with Congress for authorizing and funding the war, become politically active and vote. Don't belittle the brave and patriotic men and women of the Armed Forces.

Actually the first post was correct. Congress is the only government body that can DECLARE war and the last time the did it was WWII.
Regarding all the winers about how evil the miltary is and that this is a waste of tax money. A) this isn't the forum for those grivances B) the game is actually extremely well done. Besides having fantastic gameplay, it creates an environment where noone can play as the bad guy (each side see's the opposite as the terrorists) which I think is more positive then other games ( RTCW for example) and it provides basic information about the army. I for one think this is a much better use of PR funds (which are going to get spent one way or another) then ads etc.
