Thank You, Apple

I don't know how much appeal the 20" iMac will have, but I think I'm going for the DP 1.8. Kudos to Apple and to the rumors sites that accurately predicted this event!

Why leave the 1.6 as is?

11/18, 11:16am reply

With the 1.8 now a dual, the gimp-ness of the 1.6 is now amplified. Why couldn't they have at least upped that to have PCI-X and the full memory capacity?

It seem to exist only to get you to pony up more dough for the dual 1.8.

I'd also have much rather seen a sub $1000 tower than a 20" iMac. Seriously Apple, let consumers buy their own displays. For the cost of the 20" iMac one could buy a dual G4 and a very nice flatpanel to boot.

The DP 1.8 is a great improvement though, makes me look forward to when I can actually afford one even more.

Should have cracked the 2

11/18, 11:43am reply

Apple SHOULD have cracked the 2 barrier even farther.. instead of trying to clear out the old processors. The 2 ghz should have been the middle buy. They always do this before the end of the year and release the faster machines in January.. this sux because of year end tax right offs for office eq. force you to buy before year end if your business minded and want to give uncle sam as least in possible in taxes.

If they would offer the latest and greatest during December season they would sell more computers in my opinion. Because I'm not buying knowing a faster one is due January.. I'll just buy OTHER office eq this year as a tax right off.

You lose Apple. Must be Gore's idea.

nice

I think it was really nice of apple to provide a dual 1.8 at only $100 difference. I'm kinda shocked that apple did this, its not like them. well done.

Your statement contradicts itself.... especially since Gore has only been a board member for a year. Just like a conservative to assume it's someone else's fault. Last time I also checked, Jobs still made all the company's final decisions and don't forget that he is just or more liberal than Gore..

Yeah, it takes so much skill in order to have an inside source spill the beans.

RE: Thankyou Apple

Ditto. While finding a single 1.8 a tad anemic and the dualie over my budget, the dualie 1.8 is just the ticket. One more table dance and I'll be able to throw in the 20" Display :)

Because that would have required a different, more expensive motherboard.

It is much better for Apple to lower the price of the 1.6Ghz G5 by $200 than to keep the price the same and add enhancements that the average consumer neither needs nor understands.

G5 iMac?

11/18, 12:06pm reply

Seems these liberals (ie Gore and Jobs) are holding this company up pretty well over the years, they must be doing something right, wish I could say the same about Bush's Government.

On the topic... I'm ready for a consumer tower or an iMac with a detachable LCD screen OR if the 20" iMac had a G5, it would be a much better buy.
