Update pulled

11/13, 10:32am reply

"We are in the process of revising the Java 1.4.1 download to provide better compatibility

with changes made in other recent Apple software updates.

Check back here for up-to-date information on the status of the Java 1.4.1. download."

So it is written. Think before you call someone names. The web download just lagged behind the SU download from being pulled.

Hey idiot reporters! Did you even read that KB doc? It says:

"We are in the process of revising the Java 1.4.1 download to provide better compatibility with changes made in other recent Apple software updates.

Check back here for up-to-date information on the status of the Java 1.4.1. download."

When I read that message, I get the distinct impression that the update isn't ready yet. Are you "reporters" reading with your good eye closed again??

Read the Tech Note people!!!

Not everyone needs this update.

If the update is not showing up in your Software Update then it is quite possible that you do not need it.

Java 1.4.1 gone, not gone

11/13, 12:32pm reply

The Java 1.4.1 Update formerly available at http://www.info.apple.com/kbnum/n120242 was for Jaguar.

The 'new' all improved Java 1.4.1 Update that the above article refers to is for Panther only and is available at http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/java.html

At this time no Java 1.4.1 Update is officially available for Jaguar, nor has Apple got round to issuing the promised security fixes for Jaguar. Not to mention that Safari 1.1 is not available for Jaguar.

By the way, the title of this MacNN page is completely misleading. Apple has not issued a Java 1.4.1 update previously for Panther so they can hardly be accused of reposting such an update!
