Proteron offers competetive upgrade to N2MP3

updated 01:14 pm EDT, Thu May 4, 2000

Following RealNetworks' acquisition of Xing Technology and the announcement yesterday that AudioCatalyst 2.1 would be the last Mac-compatible version, Proteron is offering users of AudioCatalyst a competitive upgrade to the company's N2MP3 encoding software for $25, a $10 savings off the regular price.

Popular Web portal AltaVista has taken the wraps off its new Raging Search search engine, which it hopes will lure users away from the increasingly popular Google. Like Google, Raging Search features a clean interface with no banner ads, although small text ads do appear at the bottom of the search results page. In MacNN's brief testing we found that Google remains the superior search engine, returning more accurate results faster.
