QED survey: Macs expected gain in education

Business Week reports that despite some disappointing Apple education sales numbers in its fiscal fourth quarter, reviving strength in laptops could signal a broader recovery: "While its overall education sales were down in the quarter, Apple reported that sales to colleges and universities were the best in seven years.. an October survey by education technology tracker QED predicted that over the next 12 months purchased by K-12 school districts across the country vs. Dell's 37%, as administrators opt to buy more laptops. That would be up nine points from fiscal 2003 and would be the highest figure for Apple in four years."

    sorry but

it is significant. Lately Apple has been loosing market share in education market. This article suggest exactly the opposite. Don't be silly, Apple can go out of business. It is after all a business. I'm not say that it will, I'm just saying that it CAN go down, unlike the first post suggest.

    it could've gone down

apple had better marketshare in eduction than in the general consumer market, so it was still possible to go down further.

    coming back

at my school apple is coming back in a big way. previously there were only 2% macs but now its up to 15% with the student body. that change is over a 3 year period.

    huh?

Apple is or will be at 30% of the education market share, so yea, there's room for a 30% drop downward. Where'd everyone go to school and learn math at? They can go down, up or stay the same. I hope they continue to climb and influence more students to nag their parents to buy them a mac at home.

    Re: huh?

This is very good news. Nowadays, it's not uncommon for a family to have more than one computer. While some may still believe you need to have a PC for "business" they may buy a Mac for the kids to match what they have in school. It's a good way for parents to see the value of a Mac, and compare it to their PC.

Are we missing a word in the headline? Should that read, "QED survey: Macs expected TO gain in education"?
