    Formac is c***

Formac LCDs are actually pretty good (I own four of them) but the company itself sucks. It is a fly-by-night company that offers very very little customer service other than lip-service.

Dealing with this company is like chewing on rocks!

I used to work for this company... THE WORST ever to work for as an employee. They LIED to us about pay and compensation... Horrible germans!

    I agree...

...such great products and such crappy support.
I will never buy another product from Formac no matter how good they are.

    exactly-

They think its a privelage that you are allowed to buy their products and then blame you if there are any issues with their product.

    Low Resolution

1280 by 1024, which I always thought was an odd resolution (why 1.25:1 aspect ratio instead of 1.33:1? To better accomodate Windows taskbar?), is rather low for a 19" LCD. There are many other 19 inchers with same odd ball low resolution, but at $850, Gallery 1900 represents very poor value (most 19" 1280 by 1024 LCDs cost $600 to $750).

    Re: Low Resolution

I thik this monitor will appeal to those who want to get an LCD who need better brightness and a higher contrast ratio than the typical consumer LCD, but who don't want to pay out the a$$ for more. IOW, it's a midrange solution, thus not the cheapest.

For the typical consumer, it's probably overkill.

IAC, I personally don't buy Formac products since they screwed me on my first experience with them...

    One good experience

I have the Gallery 2010, and like it very much. I use it for desktop publishing. Everyone that comes into my office and sees it wants one. I've never had any problems or any reason to contact their tech support or customer service, so I can't offer any opinion on that. It's a bright, clear display -- with a nice, high-tech design as well.

    Caveat Emptor

If you think you want a Formac monitor, good luck getting one. I waited months for one, they made me send it a photocopy of my school's credit card (!), and then when the units finally "shipped" my order was cancelled and I never received it. Their service was horrible, communication non-existent, excuses flimsy and constant, and as far as I'm concerned, no monitor is worth putting up with that bull.

Buy a Samsung or other major brand instead - I did, and I actually received a monitor. Formac needs a serious kick in the a**.
