    incomplete story

Why is it that when people make comments on things like the plethora of mp3 players, they fail to mention that most of them suck? Lack of integration, short battery life, huge size, etc., are usually left out.

    I'm shocked....

...MS criticises the Apple iTunes thang. I got to sit down.

I know that mp3 is not an open standard, but it's more open and cross-platform than windows media. Do you think that there might be an auterior motive behind this statement? No, surely not.

    Same old game

On Windows you get much more software, and WMP is supported on more MP3 players...

... most of which is c***. So that means that on Windows you have more freedom to choose c***. Great. You get what you pay for.

    Microsoft is just mad...

MS: Thou shall use WMA, and take no other music format before it.

Then Apple comes along, with a solution that just might topple MS domination of online music.

    Player support

It is too early to say this other music device will not support AAC (FairPlay) in the future. This is only the beginning. When other device maker see how nice Apple iTunes really is they will jump right into AAC file format. I know some of Nokia phone support AAC audio play back. 2 months from now we might see Philips, Sony, or other big brand start supporting iTunes with or AAC audio format along side with WMA. Anyway most people still buy CD and rip them into mp3... and iTune is the best freeware for the job.

    Too Restrictive? HAHA...!

Perhaps M$ should fill in for O'Reilley on the "No Spin Zone". I almost can't believe they said that...M$? "too closed"? how utterly ridiculous given their current and past behavior.
UM yeah, no other MP3 players work with um MP3 format either.

MS could re-brand it's online music effort as "ITMS Ripoff, Part Deux: The Crappening".

    uh huh

these people live in a fantasy world. in case you missed it, gates also thinks he invented personal computing:
Gates is optimistic about meeting the challenge of the new security threats, he told reporters. "We have to. We invented personal computing. It is the best tool of empowerment there has ever been. If there is anything that clouds that picture, we need to fix it."
