MicroMat has delayed to "Late Summer." The drive utility suite offers predictive diagnostics, a new "eDrive" feature to create an invisible emergency volume, the ability to run its battery of tests simultaneously, and improved optimizations features to unfragment files.

    Not vaporware

They're just waiting for the final release of Longhorn before they release it. I hear it should be out in a few weeks (Longhorn is supposed to be out this year, right?).

    Arrrrrrr

MicroMat makes great products ... I've ordered TechTool Pro 4 myself. But this absurd series of delays is aggravating. Especially when there is no explanation given (that I've seen) as to why the delays are occuring. My guess is that they are modifying the program for Panther compatibility. But those of us who don't have Panther (which I guess is all of us so far) would rather see software shipped.

    Drive 10

Well Drive 10 certainly is not one of those great products. I ordered it together with a free copy of Techtool Pro 4, but what a totally unusable product it turned out to be. Scanning a disk with 220.000 files took several hours and did not even result in a mountable disk! It wrecked it only to be recovered by DiskWarrior!

The help desk just replied it was a very complex task with the modern file systems. A complex task perhaps but DiskWarrior did it in under 40 minutes.

If Techtool Pro 4 is the same quality as their Drive 10 I will think twice about using it.

    Patience....

Better to have it done right the first time than to ship it early and have bugs, and yet another reason to complain....

    GEEEEZUS!!!

This is ridiculous! Buncha goddam idiots can never get their code together quickly enough to stay ahead of system software updates. It's not as if all the other utility companies got seeded with new system code any earlier, is it?! This amount of delay is unforgivable.

    actually...

i bet the problem is actually the new G5 architecture, not panther. i am sure micromat had pre-seed development copies of panther, but NO ONE had actually G5 hardware to run it on until just recently. the G5 changed the rules, and apple kept it away from damn-near everyone...
