(iTMS): "Home to a who's who of jazz such as Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Billy Eckstine, John Coltrane, Jimmy Scott and many others, as well as current luminaries such as Hubert Laws, James Moody, Lou Rawls and Andy Bey, SLG now offers over 3000 classic and contemporary tracks from the extensive catalog. SLG's new repertoire includes adult contemporary stars such as Joan Armatrading as well as cutting edge projects.

Other artists and project include the upcoming "Bird Up: The Charlie Parker Remix Project," featuring remixes of Parker classics by renowned artists and producers such as Dan the Automator, The RZA (Wu Tang Clan), Serj Tankian (System of a Down), El-P, The X-ecutioners and many more. SLG will also be offering tracks available only through the iTunes Music Store, such as an exclusive cut from the upcoming "Bird Up: The Charlie Parker Remix Project" (release date, Oct. 21). As part of the "Bird Up" promotion, listeners will be able to purchase the bonus track "Constellation (Heavenly Bodies)" produced by underground hip hop artist/producer El-P, an alternate mix available only through iTunes Music Store. Additional catalog tracks and bonus exclusives will be offered in the months to come.

The Savoy Label Group is the North American unit of Columbia Music Entertainment (formerly Nippon Columbia), the oldest music company in Japan. I wonder if the gift certificate thing gets past this. Say someone in the US buys you a gift certificate, then you may not need to provide a US billing address to download it. And if it does, you could always fake it. Does anyone know if this presents a work around option?

I noticed the first post was from U.K. I went to Europe with a small jazz ensemble and was amazed how interested and knowledgable everyone was on jazz. Especially college age kids. It's great to see Apple offering a more diverse selection of music so people here can easily try some of this music instead of being fed everything through our radio.

Nice to see them included. But usually you get whole samplers of famous recordings for like $1.50 on CDs. So why pay 99c per song?

You might be waiting a little longer. MS is getting sued over their music stuff in europe for patent infringement. That might be holding up Apple as well.

Ooh Bop Sha Bam A Klook A Mop! The real bebop on iTMS. As a jazz fan in a small town iTMS has been a great way to get a hold of jazz recordings, since there's no megastores nearby to write off having a large jazz inventory (although I've been suprised at what I've found out in the boonies).

Bird would've definitely used a Mac. :)
