What does your comment have to do with Apple streaming the music special event? Keep your comments on topic, dude.
8 pounds??? Are you nuts. Try carrying that around for two hours at the airport. Where's the gigabit ethernet for this desktop replacement? Is there a video-out port? No mention here. But, oooh, you can put stickers on your laptop.
Oh, and what's the price?
Nice to see they got this up... I would have enjoyed watching it live, but Oh well... guess they didn't want to splurge on such an event.
Question: CAN YOU WALK INTO YOUR LOCAL CompUSA AND PICK UP A AMD 64
Answer: NO
Question: Can you walk into your local CompUSA and buy a 64 bit Mac?
Answer: YES
Wasn't the Atari Jaguar 64 Bit? Pretty light and portable too.
i dont think the atari jaguar is 64 bit the same way the opteron and G5 are 64 bit...
notice how naturally and easily steve navigated the pc with the scrollwheel while moving the mouse around in itunes? hmmm... clearly he uses a 3 button mouse. why the h*** can't he give us one? and before you people start yelling "go buy one dude!" i suggest that he give us what 97% of the world has and YOU go buy a single button one.
someone says Apple wasn't the first with 64-bit, indeed, Alpha computers were first with 64-bit. But this isn't about who is first. It's about the right tool for the job. Do you use the fastest pneumatic hammer when you need to put a nail in the wall to hang a picture? No, you use the right tool for the job. Most people don't use Alpha stations, and on the AMD 64-bit laptop, the OS is 32-bit. So really, what's the point? Apple's G5 along with Panther is fully 64-bit, from the OS to the CPU and the rest of the architecture, hence why it trully is the world's first 64-bit personal computer.
Since the OS is part of a "personal computer", Apple's statement is true, whereas the first post in this topic is a ludircious and an immature one that does nothing useful, to top all of that it's even OFF TOPIC.
I rather enjoyed the video, I get such immense satisfaction whenever Apple releases new software.
Apple releases new updates: fun, joy, happiness.
Microsoft releases new stuff: relief from current problems, no fun, no joy, no happiness.
My point is done.
gates thinks HE invented personal computing. quote: Gates is optimistic about meeting the challenge of the new security threats, he told reporters. "We have to. We invented personal computing. It is the best tool of empowerment there has ever been. If there is anything that clouds that picture, we need to fix it."

first 64 bit notebook AMD
AMD again has the First 64 bit notebook, they were the first to have a 64 bit consumer machine, not apple.
Notebook
Gamer-friendly notebook maker VoodooPC has introduced an AMD Athlon 64-based machine to its line of Envy Pentium-based portables.
The Envy m:855 is built around a VIA K8T800 chipset. Its graphics sub-system is driven by an ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 chip with 64MB of video RAM, hooked up to a 15in screen. Since all of VoodooPC's machines are built to order, the company didn't detail memory, hard drive and DVD-RW optical storage, but the HDD it's offering is Hitachi's 7200rpm notebook-friendly Travelstar, probably a 60GB version.
The unit includes a built in card reader, an S/P DIF audio port, four USB 2.0 ports, a 1394 connector, 56Kbps modem, 10/100Mbps Ethernet. And a 12-cell battery. With 12 cells, says VoodooPC, this is the first desktop replacement offering "decent" battery life. Generic tests show around 3.9 hours, but two hours is probably a better 'real world' life.
The (8lb) m:855 will come in an array of coloured cases, with room for personalised decals to be added on the buyer's behalf. The machine is expected to begin shipping at the end of the month, internationally as well as to North America.
