    Why isn't this in update

It does not show up in Software Update...
    I wonder why.

    DWB-120M users screwed...

...as an "early adopter" I feel a bit let down by Apple for selling me a BT adapter which does not work with there new products. They should offer an exchange or upgrade policy as a matter of good will.

    Early adopter

Every time Apple releases an update that doesn't work for earlier version of hardware there is a complaint. Why? Don't people understand that Apple is in business and must make a profit. It's not a cozy little club that can dole out freebies to people because they bought stuff early.

If you want a later bluetooth adapter buy one, and sell the old one on eBay.

    RE: Early Adopter

They DO have an upgrade policy for you, my friend. For just $49.95, you can upgrade to the latest model.

Serously, don't feel let down. For all this time, your Bluetooth module has worked for you. It still does. Taken to the extreme, does it make sense that Apple should send me a G5 machine for free because my old Powermac 7600 isn't as good?

    Figures...

I have an R1 as well...

One thing that has gotten on my nerves with this is for some reason when I buy products which should theoretically work forever, something Apple related requires me to buy a new one...

Having an AirPort base station that died at 13 months old, due to the same bug that has been ever present in [the origional version]. But because mine did NOT fall in there defined range, I was forced to buy a new one... And of corse as my luck had it, a month after I bought it Apple released the white version...

    My luck in a nutshell...

I have one of the older bluetooth modules but I'm not particularly upset about it. I doubt that Apple intentionally sold adapters it knew wouldn't work with a product it hadn't even finished designing. My understanding is that the old adapters don't have upgradeable firmware and they don't support the "adaptive frequency hopping" and encryption used in the keyboard and mouse.

it's not specifically Apple related, bluetooth is still evolving, much like USB did at first, and most other technologies, in order to prevent some possible security issues I believe was the biggest change.

    OK

making a supposedly open standard peripheral to work with one OS only? If any other companies did this (MS, Intel, Sun, etc) you guys would be all over this. Hypocrites.
