AvP for Mac set to release

updated 04:47 pm EST, Thu January 11, 2001

Contrary to other published reports, Aliens vs. Predator: Gold Edition for the Mac is not being held by Fox Interactive due to legal troubles with Microsoft. MacPlay's Bill Heineman, Lead Programmer on the project, told games.macnn.com today that the title has been complete for three weeks and has passed intensive Quality Assurance testing at Fox. The game should be released in the next few weeks.

    A vs P

Well this sounds good but , since I'm not fond of the color blue I'm not holding my breath. At least until I see something on Fox's Site.

    Oh, Joy!

hasn't this game been out for like three years on the pc side, and been in development for the mac for nearly as long? what was going on all this time? still, it's a great game, and having played it on my friend's pc, and i'm looking forward to it.

I'll buy the game if (big if) it comes out........but I won't think or care about it if it doesn't come out.

    More BS

What I find amazing is that *many*other games were conceived, programmed, tested, and released in the same amount of time it has taken AvP to finish beta testing.

    But will it ...

... connect to the PC version? This is an issue because, while I use a PC for my gaming, I know a few people who don't own a PC at all; I'd still like to be able to play with them.

    Yes

The developers reverse-engineered DirectPlay so the Mac version of AVP can play with the PC version. People are calling this the "ideal port" except for the fact that it took so long because they made it practically perfect.

    I played this...

...game on my buddy's Atari Lynx system almost 4 years ago. Great game, though.

    Does anyone care any more

This game looks neat for 1998, but does anyone really care any more? This thing better have absolutely amazing gameplay and lasting appeal or there's no way I'm gonna buy it. I already have Q3 and UT and don't really need an FPS from the generation BEFORE the games I play now... I'd rather spend money on something like Majesty or Risk2 that will give me a completely different experience from the other games I have.

    The Game IS great!

Played it on PCs just month ago. Addivtive and nice not needing to blow human bodyparts away (unless you play Predator or Alien of course...). It is very difficult as well if you play human in for instance, the Hive.
    I´ll buy it.
