HELIOS debuts WebShare file server

HELIOS Software today introduced its new , an extremely fast and secure, remote Internet file server with support for the Microsoft Windows 2000/2003 Server platform. Files can be accessed and swapped directly and speedily via a Web browser without any additional WebDAV, FTP, AFP or SMB/CIFS connections that typically slow down file transfers. The two-tier server application uses WebObjects server to authenticate and display a catalog of files available through the WebShare File Server.
HELIOS WebShare is
ideal for Data Access Management (DAM) and prepress applications. When used
in combination with HELIOS ImageServer and HELIOS PDF HandShake, WebShare
can also provide remote access to previews of QuarkXPress and InDesign
documents, of images in a variety formats including PDF documents, via a
Web browser. The company has posted information on its performance and security. It runs on Mac OS X and requires a separate WebObjects license.
