It'll be nice to have iTunes on my PC at work. Hopefully there will be a great ad-campaign to let current PC iPod owners know they can ditch their MusicMatch software and upgrade.

Mindshare

This is great news and IMHO a huge opportunity for Apple to make some headway into this market - not only to boost revenue and indirectly the sales of other products, but to maintain its image as an innovator and a technology leader. At 3%-4% marketshare, this is crucial to Apple's reputation.
I hope Apple marketing budget for this is HUGE. It doesn't matter if the iTMS is better than the other services - Apple needs the mindshare big time on this one to get the ball rolling on Wintel and not botch an opportunity to become a leader in this new market.

Devil's in the details

What format would the music be in? What DRM would be associated with it? How seemlessly will other devices and programs play/burn the song purchased via iTMS for Windows? I want better audio quality than what iTMS for the Mac offers, or else I see it as a waste of time. Will it work with XPlay, which I need to use to keep Mac compatibility while synching to PCs.
Good as an addin serivce to keep iPod sales up, but unless they are willing to give consumer rights and privelidges that other Windows services haven't then it offers nothing for me.

im sure it will use AAC and the same DRM as iTMS users currently enjoy. what more rights do you expect? its already pretty damn loose. 3 computers, unlimited iPods, unlimited burns...i mean what else? u want them to pay u to listen? why will u need xplay? iTunes will do all the management for you. only reason i could see that is if you want to use a HFS formatted iPod on the PC. lack of HFS support for windows isnt apple's fault. if you have a mac and a pc just use a FAT formatted one. the mac doesnt give a damn which file system u use. what's wrong with the quality of AAC? u must have a super fine ear. i have played many songs for people and then from a CD....and people generally can not tell the difference. would you rather them use WMA or RM? both who suck monkey nuts. how easy will it work with other devices? fine i would imagine if they support AAC with DRM. again, not apple's fault. i mean how many players actually support WMA or RM? not very many. if apple can market this properly they will rule all in this market. they need to go after it agressively. they already have the highest brand recognition in this area and they need to keep it.
