Apple has posted its newest it introduced several weeks ago. The new ads bring animation to the black silhouettes on colorful backgrounds. Now available in QuickTime, several readers also noted that it debuted during several primetime shows last night, including the West Wing.

    Is it just me...

I don't know but this ad might start some contraversy. It reminds me of a piece I saw on PBS about an artist who used siloutted figures to protray the racism in the US and its violence (http://www.pbs.org/art21/artists/walker/index.html)

I hope more people are open minded but I'm a proponet of this ad.

and exactly what is it you're saying that apple's ad has anything to do with what you just mentioned?

their not using silhouette figures to disply racism, they're using these figures to propose that ANYONE can use an ipod. In essence you should see yourself as the one having fun with an ipod, as those silhouette figures are dancing around with the ipods.

You are stretching by trying to compare what apple is doing and what kara walker is doing.

I certainly hope so because if people are that misdirected they might think this is picture promoting drug use by people who wear Kangols.

    One of the best...

...TV commercials to come out of the Apple marketing engine ina long time! Very cool and motivating. I hope we start to see more cool ads for Apple's other products. I'm getting tired of Jeff Goldbloom's voiceovers...

I don't like it... Seems like Apple is going after the Hip Hop crowd.... very cheezy.

    Nothing to do with age

its just c***. and VERY predictable. As soon as I saw the "new ipod commercial" I thought to myself, hmmm whats the bet that its going to have some hip hop or r&b c*** playing. You see, thats whats IN right now for all the execs, h*** McDonalds is doing it (although BK beat them to it).

Heaven forbid when Dell gets around to stealing the "hip hop is cool" deal.. Yo Dude. Yo Dude. Yo Dude.. Homey is gettin a Dell.

There is NO originality in this. Just the PR engine at work
