ARS Nitpicka

Tsk, tsk. Picky, picky. What do they expect with a pre-prod prototype unit that has been banging around trade shows and testing labs for months?

Get a Dell

Definitely. Plasticky, ugly, really unreliable, short battery life, and features as uninspiring as could be.

whatsup y'all? the reviewer gave his POV and you're all running havoc. I'd say picky people made the Mac to what/where it is today - why not letting picky people review it?

preproduction units

10/08, 06:50am reply

If ars reviewed a pre-production unit then I know what they're talking about. I had a pre-prod iBook SE when I worked for Apple, and for some as-of-yet-unexplained reason, mold sprouted and grew black spots on top of the aluminum but under the plastic. Happened to other iBooks that were in the field, too. Ugh.

Hope that Apple has or will soon have that nailed. Can't go claiming 'fit and finish' if it's not top quality.

Apple's Quality Control

10/08, 08:26am reply

I have to say this guy has some good points with quality control.
Sent my Powerbook back for a simple fix and it came back with a broken logic board which was not broken when I sent it. I asked if they turn these things on before they go out and they said they are task oriented and this is may have been overlooked. I would have be ok with this once but the next time it came back it was still broken and now it's going back for a 3rd time. It would have taken them just two seconds to see if the laptop turned on or not.
Meanwhile it's been a month to fix a simple issue. What about the time and money I have lost not being able to use this Laptop? Apple use to be the king of quaility control but if we don't bring this to Apple's attention then it may just get worse. I could expect this from a cheep wintel machine but not a top dollar apple. Doesn't anyone care about this anymore! It is really sad that people don't care about the quailty of their product and service.
