    Apple Store 2.0

I need to see what's upstairs from them. Closed for a whole month? I hope they're making it two-story.

    I've heard two-story

I've heard they're doing two story about a month ago. I haven't been there. If the store above it is closed, then it's confirmed. I'll check it out and post back.

    That's the hints

That Mac OS X 10.3 will be released sometime in Nov instead of Oct. as rumors indicated.

    hmm

I don't think so, panther's release date should at least be announced in Oct.

    Apple Store

I want to see Apple Specialist Stores retooled by Apple as part of their retail push. Instead of pushing to eliminate their own loyal vendors as competition (don't resellers work FOR Apple?), I want to see MORE opportunities to introduce great Mac products to the general public, not less. And here's a thought. Why not use Apple Specialists ( the independent stores that sell both platforms, but are primarily devoted to Mac) to set up comparison demonstrations. That way, Windows users can see how a Mac both compares to their system AND can interface with it.

    Reseller that sells both

... Umm, If you are in the business to sell cross platform. Your customers are best served if the reseller sales to the customer based on their interest and needs.

You won't find a VAR in business that stocks PC's to just compare its weakness to the Mac. I don't care how pro Mac you are...

    october 30th

is when panther will be released. I read a post by someone else that Apple wanted october 3rd, but that's not it, it is the 30th. technically, the date of october reads: 10/03, but the 30th reads: 10/30, applying this date to the Panther Version number: 10.30 or, 10.3.0! Expect the MOA retail store to be completed by this date and if not, completed enough for the store (at least the bottom half) to be opened to sell panther. Watch, Listen, Observe and Learn!

    No no no

As long as steve jobs is CEO, no OS is going to go out on a date that isn't the 24th

    Specialists on the vine

It's not Apple's responsibility to make sure that Apple Specialists maintain any type of image, success or customer loyalty, but some may argue that it's in Apple's best interest to better support the channel. It really comes down to adaptation - fatcat™ Apple Specialists who were used to bigass fat margins on LaserWriters and BigMacs are now having to cope with razor-thin margins, and they just can't seem to adapt to a business model of success without constant whining and complaining (get on the Special-List and witness the weak business models in action, it's really humorous). It's really funny to see some of these Apple Specialists try to mimic the Apple retail store experience too. Here's a hint: you aren't Apple. Build YOUR OWN brand and image, or perish with the rest of the channel. The writing is on the wall, and has been for years (since the iMac debuted and margins were traded for BDF's, MDF's and other "programs" where you have to "earn" back your margins through unit sellthrough). If you don't know how to build your own brand and image, and develop marketing that helps your visibility in the market, then do what so many other Specialists have done - throw in the towel and become a user again, and look back at your run with fond memories. Apple IS competing directly against you - why do you think so many RAE's are quiet on certain competitive topics? Isn't it a punch in your mouth when Apple debuts new hardware and the channel, especially the elite Apple Specialist, is not delivered even a single demo unit for weeks/month AFTER initial product rollout and Apple Retail Store availability? Doesn't that make your blood boil, Apple Specialist? How many times has Apple done this to you? iMac, iMac flat panel, PowerBook 17", and now the G5. Shame on you if you let it continue, and it's costing you sales. Look at Apple's warchart and retail store map - if it's not near you now, it will be soon. h***, most of you make less than $30 on AppleCare, and the last bastion of profitability - Service - has now been commoditized. Boo-hoo, it's all Apple's fault, right?

    Tysons Corner Store

I wish the Tysons Corner store could be made into a two story store, but that's not possible (it's on the 2nd floor of a two level shopping center). Maybe they are expanding sideways (I'll have to check if one of the stores to the side are closed/closing.)
Boy, having the Tysons store closed is going to make the Clarendon store very crowded for the Panther release event.
