Apple's Security Team has announced that the re-released as the first update, including previously undescribed enhancements for recently revealed OpenSSL announcements: "Fixes CAN-2003-0543, CAN-2003-0544, CAN-2003-0545 to address potential issues in certain ASN.1 structures and in certificate verification code. Works for Me

I've applied the 97 MB Combo updater to two machines that were running the "later withdrawn" 10.2.8, and both work fine as far as I know. One was a 2001 iBook Dual USB - the battery time indicator shows more time than before. The other, a 2003 Dual 1.25 GHz G4 had no problems after the first 10.2.8 and still apparently has no problems after applying the combo updater to it.

    Nothing on G5

Uh, in my software update panel it does not show up. Does this mean I should NOT install the update on my G5? I mean I look and look but nothing, no 10.2.8 update for the G5 is out there...

    Anyone out there with a G5 (10.2.8)?????

    not for G5

it says right in the system requirments that this update is NOT for G5's. On another note, I used the original 10.2.8 update on my G4/400 without any probs at all.

    Installed it, but ...

I installed the update over the previous update, and now my system seems to be slow and the UI is a little jerky.

The original update didn't cause problems (after I rebboted when it hung my machine with a solid colored screen). Everything seemed OK after I fixed permissions, etc.

The update to the update seemed to go fine, but now everything seems "jerky". I am running a G4/400 Sawtooth (upgraded with a Sonnet Encore/ST 1.25 GHz G4).

    Installed it and...

improved my battery meter to levels seen pre-initial 10.2.8 update. On my 667 tiBk with a new battery I was getting 3 hours on a charge but only 1:40 after 10.2.8. Now back to original levels. can't comment on the UI speed as it seems pretty much the same with 1 GB RAM

    If you're afraid...

Why not try it and see what your own experience will be. Just remember to back up your current system first. I recommend backing up to a separate partition using Carbon Copy Cloner, and then applying the update.

If it works, post and let everyone know. If it doesn't work, you can always go back to your previous system (that you cloned).

By the way, 10.2.8 worked fine on my QuickSilver 867, as did the updated 10.2.8. On my PowerBook Ti 1 GHz, it hosed my battery life, but the updated 10.2.8 restored it. So, no problems with the new update here.
