$3.2M deal brings iBooks to rural NC school

The Cox News Service has more details on the : "Tim Cook, executive vice president of worldwide sales and operations for Apple Computers, visiting Thursday with Greene County officials and school board members, said the iBook laptops should be distributed by the middle of the month. Through a four-year lease agreement between Apple Computers and Greene County schools, about 1,800 students and 170 teachers will receive the computers. Piloted in Henrico County, Va., the program in Greene County is the first countywide iTech program in North Carolina, officials said."

    great!

    Given the limited success i'd seen with the crippled hardware solution in wide-deployment things like netschools, this must be wonderful.

    From a small school with maybe a dozen ibook 12s, I still can't figure out how they tell all those white ibooks apart!
    Must be sticker heaven.

    If they are smart, they'll have asset numbers etched into the bottom of the case. I just don't see stickers lasting too long with tiny prying fingers and popping up the keyboard or taking out the battery to read the s/n isn't too convenient...
