    Great Product!

I purchased this software on Monday and it works perfectly. On the first attempt I synced my HP 2215 with my new 15" Alum PowerBook G4. Synced with AddressBook without a hitch. Also, works well with iSync, just like the Bluetooth phones. Great product worth purchasing.

    Avoid PocketMac

As a user of PocketMac 2.0 I think it's pretty safe to say it's best to avoid this company altogether. I can't speak for PocketMac 3.0, but I do know that I purchased 2.0 and it was quite honestly the worst piece of software I've ever owned. It gave my Mac well over 1 dozen kernel panics and I was never able to actually successfully sync. Worst of all when hordes of scorned users complained, PocketMac vanished. They simply stopped returning e-mails, phone calls, etc. No refunds, no apologies just dead silence. The worst $70 I ever spent.

    PocketMac 2 vs. PM3

They are completely different. Don't be scared by the bad reputation this product has. PM2 was a disaster all around. PM3 is completely different and well worth trying out.

    Missing Sync, PPC

Use Mark/Space's Missing Sync for Pocket PC. At version 1, it already includes the features of PocketMac 3, not to mention it works. If I remember, I think it's cheaper to buy than PM3.

    Avantgo

Avantgo will work both with PM3 and Missing Sync. PM3 has a setting to automatically update your avantgo information. Both allow you to get an internet connection through your PPC, so you can set up avantgo that way too.

There's a thread in the Peripherals forum that has a good overview of PM3 if you're more interested.

    Missing Sync does NOT

include a LOT of the features that Pocket Mac 3.0 does.

Bluetooth? No. Entourage? No. PocketMac 3.0 is honestly far more featureful and usable tahn Missing Sync. And PM 3.0 is now priced almost at the same price, even upgrades are only $5!!

    No Demo

Strange, they are following the same tactic as before. No Demo posted, you must buy the software, no refunds, after enought people buy the software, then they will release a demo; if something goes wrong with the release, good luck getting your money back....

BTW, if you buy with a credit card, their no refund policy is nonsense as the CC company will refund your money if the product is worthless...

...unless of course i wasn't looking in the right place for the demo....

I had a faculty member buy the software (2.0 Pro) and it never worked. They never answered my questions for support on their forums (before they changed them to Yahoo... what kind of a company has their tech support forums in Yahoo???????) so she got fed up and switched to a PC (yes, i told her not to!!!) But using her pocket pc was important to her....

Unforutnately i would not recommend buyingthe product without trying it. Wait until a demo is provided and test it.

    Sincerely,
    Marco

    re: No Demo

I agree, they should at least provide a proof of concept demo so that people can test out the connection and make sure it can connect and transfer data to the Pocket PC. After the fiasco they've had up to now, I think it's in their best interest to do something like that, if only to say, "yeah, it does work."
