Wired: Apple to refresh coporate logo

Apple is set to earlier this week: "The logo's shape remains unchanged -- an apple with a bite taken out of the right side. The effect is a lot like the chrome female robots of Hajime Sorayama. At least, that's the best guess of Apple watchers, who spotted the new logo in the latest test version of Apple's OS X operating system. It is not clear whether Apple will adopt the new silver logo for product design, as well as marketing and packaging, or simply restrict it to the new software," according to Wired.

No Biggie

I don't think this is all that big of a deal--Apple's been adjusting and tweaking the monochrome logo since they killed the color one. It is a new phase, though, if it's pervasive in the OS, and makes sense from a hardware-matching standpoint.

Does look nice though.

I really would have liked my wireless keyboard and wireless mouse to resemble the Powerbook it sits in front of..

I think it would have been really cool...

Snow accessories look great in front of the iBook, eMac and iMac's but not as cool behind the new G5 PowerMac's and G4 Powerbooks.

Apple is using "Chrome" as the new theme, so it will only be a matter of weeks before Dell comes out with "Mercury" or something like that. Microsoft will then follow with "Tin" for the Longhorn release in half a decade. Panther should be released in the next few days now that they got the new logo dialed in. The new logo was definitely worth the wait!

Hasn't everyone noticed that g** is now the "in" fashion? I just saw a comp-usa commercial where a g** host was helping a computer illiterate straight guy get the right hardware. Not to mention that you can't turn on the tube without seeing a show with one or more g** characters in it. g** is here to stay. Even Steve Jobs dresses kinda g** (hicky-hider, beard, short hair pushed forward). Heck, my local church has g** priests. Stone Age, Ice Age, g** age? It might be time for apple to retrieve the old "rainbow" logos out of the closet to get with the times.

That line will move up or down each quarter based on the percentage of sales for the desktop line vs. powerbook line.

Steve asked for this. When he logs into his computer in the morning, he'll now have an easy way to determine whether the sales of books or desktops are going up or down. This will help him determine whether he should be whipping the employees from the desktop or portable divisions on any given day.
