Tokyo University replaces 1150 PCs with iMacs

Several MacNN readers note an [Japanese link], Asahi Shinbun that reports on Tokyo University's plan to replace 1150 Windows-based PCs with iMacs in March of 2004. (Other details are not yet available.)

    FYI

    Tokyo University (The University of Tokyo) is considered as the highest graded university in Japan.
    It's very interesting that school like this has made such decision. I hope this helps other IT departments to consider Mac as realistic alternative :)

    According to the news, their system consists of 1149 iMacs, and 4 Xserves.

    It's also interesting that their system integrator for this is NEC related company, not Apple.

    Just the idea of using virus-free computer should be a pretty good incentive too I guess.
