FireWire DDS-3 tape solutions from LaCie

LaCie yesterday announced FireWire-based DDS-3 tape solution for the Mac, which provides a compressed capacity of 24GB, stores data at 70MB/mn and automatically carries out read-after-write verification for complete data integrity. The $800 DDS-3 drive uses 125m DDS-3 media, includes with a 2-year warranty and ships with a cleaning cartridge, a 24GB cartridge, cables and Retrospect backup software from Dantz. Additional DDS-3 24GB cartridges are available for $20. (See our Tuesday news item for more LaCie news.)
