Aladdin today announced , a new Mac OS X version of its access and compression utility. Still incredibly slow?

I wonder if this version of Stuffit is still as incredibly slow as every previous version. Its amazing that, after 8 version, they have yet to produce a version with even semi-acceptable performance.

    Agreed

I agree. I see no need to purchase such slow software, especially considering that Stuffit was one of the first third-party apps ported to OS X.

    need a reason

I don’t see a compelling reason to upgrade now, maybe I missed something and it’ll come to me later

    upgrades

WTF is the point of releasing a mayor version every year?!?!?
I'd pay if it wasn't so god damn slow. Make it faster and it'll be worth a version number upgrade.

    I feel sorry ...

... for the suckers who paid and upgraded to 7 with its numerous bugs. That was just a few months ago, and now it's time to pay again?

I'm still using 6.5.1 and it works great. Can't really see a need to update, though perhaps I'll look into it when I get my next computer.

    I might buy...

...if Finder integration doesn't hijack the Finder until the archiving process is done. It's as if Alladdin doesn't know what "multithreaded" means.

    Aladdin Can Stuffit!

Thats why their software is so pirated.

    Panther's zip func...

Really doesn't do much... Users who try it when it comes out will soon find out for themselves. Apple doesn't care about compression hence why their implementation is going to be minimal at best.
