French TV interviews Steve Jobs

MacNN reader David Bismuth provided a brief report about an interview with Steve Jobs on French TV earlier this week: "The best was however Tuesday evening show on French TV! We were about 50 to 60 people admitted to the show and about half were Steve's fans. We were able to see Steve from really close (I was sitting 2-3 meters from him)."
What can I say ! The past two days have been really really great, but ... I am tired. It is past midnight and I just rode the TGV from Paris back to Marseille. The best was however Tuesday evening show on French TV! We were about 50 to 60 people admitted to the show and about half were Steve's fans. We were able to see Steve from really close (I was sitting 2-3 meters from him).
Due to security measures (September 11th symdrome ???), we had to leave all our belongings outside. So no Cameras, phones, keys, pens, ....
Steve arrived looking really open and simple. In fact, he looked a little dazed (perhaps he was tired ?). We also were told it was the first time Steve was giving a live interview broadcasted on TV in Europe. Also, I think he was a little nervous (at least at the beginning) about the language barrier and about how it was all going to turn out ! Anyway, after we gave him several standing ovations he started to relax and then kept on smiling all the time looking around at the crowd.
The interview was live and lasted about 12 minutes. The most interesting parts (for me) I'll summarized hereafter:
How many computers do you have at home? 3 computers and ... 5 iPods!
How much time do you spend on your computer(s) each day?
3 to 4 hours!
When will you bring the iTMS to Europe ? First priority for us is to make it available to Windows users in the USA and this will happen before the end of the year ! But, we are really commited to bringing iTMS to Europe as soon as ... yesterday if we could ... but the European music licensing market is very complicated. A song might be distributed by one company in the UK and a different one in France, and then another one in Germany ! So we have been trying to sort thru all of that for several months already and .. we hope that early next year we will be able to offer iTMS to European users, both MAC and Windows !
Emmanuel Chain (the host of the show) tried to trick Steve at one
point and asked him "The iPod and iTMS are changing the relation we have to music. What new revolutionnary product would you like to invent next?" Steve didn't fall for it and said : " ... we have so much to do still with music and we are going to continue to grow our presence in this area."
There was no questions at all about the Beatles suing Apple. But
this above remark by Steve Jobs seems to confirm Apple is not
really worried about it. If they were, they would tend to be more cautious about growing in this area and talking about it so much.
Also, one thought occured to me about it during the past two
days, after seeing all the ads in Paris for the iPod: Apple doesn't put the Apple logo any longer on the ads ! Also, iTMS is not called the Apple music store anymore ! One might say it is to prepare for the Windows users, but it might also be a way to avoid the problems with Apple Records!"
