SubRosaSoft's is a free update to its collection of drive tools that integrates SMART monitoring, HFS+ journaling, volume repair, surface scanning, hardware integrity checking, bench-testing, backup/restore, and online reporting. Version 2.1 includes a menu command to search for disks that were not mounted (even those that are not mountable). In addition to drive repair, a user can now backup an unmounted drive as well as perform a surface scan to help diagnose the cause. It is $70 with competitive upgrades priced at $55.
