Macromedia updates FreeHand MX 11.01

As anticipated earlier this week, Macromedia has posted its , which it says "contains fixes for issues identified since the release of FreeHand MX (version 11) and includes product activation." The update requires Mac OS X 10.2.6. Users will need their serial number and Macromedia membership informtion (free). Update: While Macromedia's Web site will accept FreeHandMX serial numbers, it will not accept StudioMX Serial numbers. Macromedia customer service is closed until Monday. [form]

    Update Woes

    The new version insists on contacting Macromedia for "Activation" and also allows for an expiring license. I can see what's coming next and it isn't pretty.

    Studio MX

    Here's Macromedia's response to my inquiry about Studio MX serial numbers:

    "Thank you for contacting Macromedia Customer Service.

    "We really apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. We have already reported this issue that the Studio MX serial number is not accepted, and the necessary steps are already being done. You would be able to download the FreeHand MX 11.0.1 updater using your Studio MX serial number some time mid-next week.

    "We appreciate your patience on this.

    "If you have other concerns, please feel free to email us again.

    "Regards,

    "Macromedia Customer Service

    "Announcing MX 2004!!

    "New versions of Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks, Studio and the new Flash Pro.

    That last bit is ironic to me; I just bought Studio MX, and I'm eligible for a free upgrade via download, but it seems they haven't found time to update their little Flash-based upgrade form yet.

    FH10

    I work with customers from just about every European country, including Spain and Germany where FreeHand has a wider users base. Yet, I haven't received any document made with FreeHand MX shall I call it version 1. Most customers still use FH8 and FH10 but FH9 mostly. I don't expect to see any change soon !

    serial number

    i lost my serial number and now i want to instal macromedia studio mx in a new machine and it keeps requesting the number which i lost because i never copied it from the packaging which came along with the CD Rom. Could you please help me.

    i need a serial number for macromedia srudio mx 2004.. i bought this at aby and there werent't serial numbers.. so ive paid for it and i cant use it... hav anybody a serial number?
