    Don't Buy From OWC

I've had terrible customer support experiences with OWC, and cannot caution people enough about doing business with them. I bought a Firewire hard drive from them a couple years back. It broke down, I sent it back, they kept me for 6 weeks without a replacement, and then sent me back two drives and charged me for an extra one I didn't order. I sent one of them back, and waited for a response. After a couple weeks, I called them back and asked for the status, and they told me they received it and are processing my credit. After not being credited for about a month, I called again, and they told me they never received the drive from me, and if I didn't have a tracking number, I was SOL. So, I lost the total value of the drive (about $300), and they refused to do anything about it. So now, I am boycotting OWC, and strongly urge anyone to buy from their competition instead; and I hope others will be spared the trouble of dealing with their customer disservice.

    Charged for Two Drives

You didn't order the second drive, so you can't be held fiscally responsible for it. If OWC refused to issue a refund, you should have had your credit card company do a charge back.

    Go with a leader

I've never had a problem ordering from OWC in the past. The one time I had a problem with some RAM modules, they helped me figured out that it wasn't the actual modules but the computer needed to have it's PRAM zapped.

As for the actual G4 upgrades, I did not order my recent upgrade from them. I decided to go with the a leader in the field, Sonnet, and I'm glad I did. I may have paid $30 more for the card, but in the end I feel I got the better deal knowing these guys have been around a long time.
