On the day of the announcement (guess about 3 days ago), about 4 billboards appeared off the 405 freeway in S.Cal as well. Beautifully placed - and timed perfectly. Loved it.

Ads are nice

I often go by Infinite Loop and it's nice to see on 280 the several story banners they have up there. G5 has been there for a while.

Market research?

The iPod website allows visitors to select a colour for the background of the splash graphic. My prediction is Apple is recording the statistics of how many people pick which colours to help decide which would be the most popular colour for a new non-white iPod. Very subtle and genious!

i don't think so -- picking an image color for an ad and picking what color you'd like your iPod to be are two very different decisions. what would be cool is if apple integrated its exterior-color changing patent into the ipod... imagine an ipod that change colors or, better yet, throbbed different colors in unison with the beat of the music... trippy.

Battery life
09/11, 04:36am reply
the Ipod is a great product that has a huge drawback: battery life. Despite what they tell you, battery lasts one hour or less after one year or so. It does not matter the firmware used. They have not been able to fix that. I have 3 ipods. None of them last more than 2 hours after one year of use. You have to carry the charger with you. Hope they fix this right away

I get at least 7 hours

on my over one year old 20 gig (I got it when they were first announced). And I use it often. So take the battery life comment with some salt.
Maybe some don't last long after a year, maybe most don't last long after a year, but definately not all.

I have the original iPod 5gb. I had the same issues after a year. The battery would konk out very soon. This did the trick for me. Do the force reboot a few times or at least once. You can either wipe it fully and just re-sync it of course, but the rebooting seemed to help mine out and I get 7+ or more, and I do not check it to the best of my knowledge on a 2+ year ipod that has been used and dropped and freezed and heated etc.... Bad user at those moments....
I hope this info helps the above 2 posters out. I also sometimes put it to sleep and that can confuse it i think and I say that lightly, but again... I hope I can be of help.
