SpamSieve 2 improves Bayesian spam filtering

C-Command's brings Bayesian spam filtering to virtually any e-mail client under Mac OS X: "It learns what your spam looks like, so it can block nearly all of it. It looks at your address book and learns what your good messages look like, so it won't confuse them with spam. SpamSieve actually gets better over time as you train it with more messages." It now extracts more information from messages for better accuracy, integrates with Eudora 6 via a plugin, features a blocklist and a whitelist, offers control over its filtering aggressiveness, and other filtering enhancements. It is a free update to the $25 application.

    Mail.app

Why not just use Apples built in Mail application?

    shame

It's a shame it doesn't work with Apple Mail. That is probably what most people are using, including me.

    Mail.app

    um, maybe because Mail.app sucks?
Seriously, it might be good for kids, but professionals cannot use Mail.app.

    I'm a professional, and I use Mail.app.

Hmm...perhaps an idea for a bumper sticker?

    mail hatin'

why does everyone hate on mail? its free. its fast. it doesnt piss me off like entourage. spam filters are awesome.

it may not have all the features in it that everyone needs, but then again, there's a saying that goes along with that.

i guess macnn exists so that people can idly b**** around..i love you mail

    Apple Mail

It doesn't work with Apple's Mail app because Mail already implements Bayesian filtering, which would make SpamSieve redundant.

I would set it up to send all messages containing phrases like "hate on mail" straight to the trash, though. : )

    Facts please!

I haven't tried SpamSieve, but there are a few things that most posters here are missing:

    1. Some people prefer mail clients with features that Apple Mail does not have.

    2. There ARE other mail clients that use Bayesian spam filtering. It isn't unique to Apple mail anymore.

    3. You're going to get more benefit from SpamSieve if your client doesn't already have Bayesian, but the docs say there are additional features the software adds even if your client already has Bayesian filtering.
