Autodesk announces DWF 6 for Mac OS X

Autodesk today announced that it will make Autodesk DWF 6 (Design Web Format) files available for Mac OS X, which will allow Mac users to view and print design information created by Autodesk design software. Autodesk also will provide a , a lightweight application that will allow Mac OS X users to be a part of the design review process, allowing them to view and print design data, without having access to the software used to create them.

This is a great way to judge the market for a full port of AutoCAD (the Photoshop of CAD). Of course, such a port could take years, so maybe it has already begun?

I don't know about some of their specialty apps, but the typical AutoCAD package is Windows only...

i've seen screenshots of Autodesk Revit X.... so who knows.. maybe autocad for X is in the near future.

Autocad is getting its backside kicked by all of the major cad players (pronounced Bentley) and has a product line up in crisis. It has aquired Revit, apparently just before Revit Mac went to Alpha and then found that Revit is actually better than almost all of its AEC software (Architecture Engineering Construction) Expect Auto to do anything to get and increase market share even in Mac's.
