    I wonder...

if ANYTHING has been done to address a major shortcoming... that even walking will cause the player to freeze when it is trying to fill the cache?

    The problem with freezing

Freezing iPods happen because either the battery is low, or it is improperly protected against the elements. My iPod seriously overheated in my pocket. After cooling down, all was well. Get a Marware convertable and put it on your belt and it won't have bad responses to walking.

    Oh, ah, eh, humm, well...

    Hi

Uh, so what's with the new iMac & iPods all of the sudden?

I was looking to find a phone number to call the store, in response to my order of a G5. The it suddenly hit me, new iPods and iMacs? Hum, so what is left to show in Paris? New iBooks and Powerbooks?

See Apple often does this when they don’t have enough time to show everything at the expo. Hope they have some other cool stuff to show...

Does anyone know if they will stream the event?

    They get better...

...and perhaps some day will do stills, video, take pictures & have wireless messaging...? And now there is space to take real 'high fidelity' AIFF files along! :-)

    Specs

In case anyone is curious, I check the Google cache for the old specs: the new models are the same dimensions and weight as the old models, with the 10 and 20GB being thinner and lighter (like the old 10 and 15GB), and the 40GB coming in for thickness/weight where the 30GB used to be.

Too bad for me: if they had gotten the 40GB down where the 10/15/20s are in thickness, I would have bought a new one to replace my 30GB. But for now, I'm still about 120 CDs from needing more than 30GB; yet the 20GB is too small. I would have liked to see a thin 30GB, but I suppose the hard drives aren't available.

    What I'd like

I have a 20 gig iPod. I also have a Fuji S2Pro. I'd love to be able to hook up the S2Pro to the iPod and have the S2Pro upload images to it. Either that or a CompactFlash slot which does the same thing. If the 40 gig, or whatever the next generation brings, did this I'd buy it in an instant. There are other devices that do this, but this way I'd only need to carry one (very cool) device.
