    p***

So this means that mac users will be able to view almost all the p*** on the internet. Aside from the Indeo codec based ones which still require classic.

    If only...

Windows media didn't tie you into file formats that are compromised. DRM cripples Windows Media Player. Although I assume that the Mac version will only offer playback support, and not creation.

    An what of Burst?

If Burst has anything to say about it, WMP-9 will be short lived in it's current form. Then we'll get to see how truly innovative Microsoft really is.

    Looking forward

Like most people, I loathe MS's business practices and complete lack of ethics.

However, the fact remains that there are a few (very few, but they do exist) things on the net that I'd like to view that are only in WMV 9 form. Contrary to popular myth, VLC can't play them either (it can play earlier versions of WMV files just fine), so I welcome the news that Mac OS X user will have parity with the PC users at least as far as playback goes.

    VLC is good, but

it /doesn't/ work for WMP9 streams, like IGN uses. If the new Mac player can handle this (through SAFARI), then that's all I need.
