Interactive Week: Jobs is "King of Cool"

updated 01:12 pm EST, Wed January 10, 2001

Steve Jobs Remains King of Cool, according to an Interactive Week column: " Apple Computer and Steve Jobs are like Jerry Garcia and The Grateful Dead. If you have to ask why people think they're still so great after all these years, you just don't get it. "

    Nice logic

"just not getting it" is a precise, logical rationale on which to allow the Mac to persist via conversion of other users. Nice!

    Be gone, losers.

Macs kick a**. That is after all the reason for this website and why so many people visit. Smoke up your pipe and put THAT in!
"allow the mac to persist" yeah, right!

    Importance of the Mac

Windows wouldn't be what it is today if not for the Mac. I can't understand people who simply fall in line with a product because it is perceived as the "standard." That seems to be more of an American thing. I have read that the Japanese find that type of thinking completely illogical.

The Mac continues to exist because it is different and because it is an extremely good alternative.

    Hmmm...

I guess I don't get it -- compare mediocre drug culture czars to semi-insane visionary? Not quite...:-)

    Lame Pull quote tho...

Jerry Garcia is dead, and I never was particularly fond of the Grateful Dead. I'm not sure if I get it or not, but I know a bad metaphor when I see one. Not sure I want it on my side of the equasion.

    Certainly Must Be..

It ceratinly must be an American thing. Apple's sales grew something like 60%+ here in Canada last year. A smug little grin grows on my face everytime I remember that number. What a hip country I live in.

As for PC users posting on MacNN... let's face it Mac fellows... the fact that they feel the need to come here, read the articles, and then voice their opinions speaks _volumes_ about them as individuals. I've never gone to a PC site and posted "Yeah well, all you PC folks are just mindless fools.. get a Mac." Why would I bother doing that? It would be a total waste of my time.

I can only assume that it's envy... :)

    "Think Different" everyone.
