Gahhhhh! EVIL!!!
Get it away! Software RAID = evil.
You're just asking for trouble using these, take it from someone who had to reconstruct a client's failed SoftRAIDed data volume on their server-- it was set up before my time, I would have never recommended it. And the hard disk driver SoftRAID put on those drives would NOT release its icy grip on the drive for anything-- I had to nuke them both with Norton Wipe Info (do 'wipe device' and cancel it after it runs for about a minute-- that does the trick).
If you want RAID, just cough up for a hardware card that will do striping or mirroring.
