HP PCs, but no Macs in IKEA catalog

A MacNN reader from Norway writes: "in this year's IKEA catalogue for Norway (and then probarbly also for the rest of Scandinavia) no Macs seem to be represented on any of the photos. In earlier annual versions the Mac used to be very well represented indeed. The odd thig is that almost all PCc on the images are HPs. My guess is they have bought advertising space this way."

    Yup

I noticed it too. And it doesn't make the furniture look better... the nice lines of macs always complemented the clean look of ikea's furniture... now there's just big grey boxes plopped everywhere.

    In stores too

I noticed the change in the catalogs and that HPs are in the store displays too. It seems to me that there must be some sort of deal between HP & Ikea.

    LLBean Home

For what it's worth, there are lots of Macs in the new LLBean Home catalog.

LL Bean was (is?) a big Apple shop.

    Ad agency for both?

It could just mean that IKEA's ad agency in that country also has the HP account. Happens often when an ad agency will do free product placements of other clients products. Some notice it... most don't.

    Aus too

Ikea in Australia have the same images.. littered with HPs. As a product designer i cant see it complementing their designs. They used to have coloured iMac shells in the stores too, but now theyre just grey boxes.. Sad.

    Did you know

that IKEA catalog is the biggest print job in the world. The same catalog is being printed all around the world with every countrys own language. I can't remember how big was the amount of printed catalogs per year, but it was big.
